“I believe in the Monastrell, I believe in its expression as a variety, in comparison with other parts of the world, I believe in the vast plots of Monastrell of the Northwest, Jumilla and Yecla. I think we have a lot of way to go, and a lot of stories to tell”. This project couples that same philosophy, to show the expression fo the Monastrell variety in some of the best territories offered by Murcia and its three wine regions. These territories, in which the intense and omnipresent sun, low rainfall and small terroir result in unique grape expressions, grown with patience, professional rigour and the work of great winemakers, comes into our hands as unique wines.

TERRITORY
This wine is grown in a great ungrafted Monastrell vineyard, with its vines turning their backs upon the Arabí Mount. Upon the first sip, we find a gentle and fresh wine, owing to the more than 900 meters of elevation of the vineyard. Balanced and rounded in the mouth, it is a result of the plants own regulation. Traditionally made with part of the stems, and a respectful ageing. The result is a wine that invites us to drink and enjoy its tasting.

I’ve lived a life full of accomplishments, intellectual curiosity and passion. Some things have left permanent changes and some anecdotes, but in each of them I have enjoyed and been inspired by the wine.
WINE SCHOOL
As featured in New York’s own Interior Design, a renowned magazine in the fields of architecture and design, we find the Escuela del Vino de Cehegín (Cehegin Wine School) - Pedro Martínez. I chose Cehegin as it housed the first winery of the late Kingdom of Murcia, in the 12th century. The school was built in the historic Palacio de la Tercia, where it resides the largest winery built in its time by José Luis Ibáñez (Inmat Architects), embracing an unique space. The storage room impresses each visitor, and it lends itself to appreciate each wine’s characteristics, exploring and learning.
Nariz de Oro (Golden Nose Award)
In wine tasting, each wine is analysed distinct phases: visually, olfactory and the taste itself. Here, the wine is placed in a black cup, so its colour and taste cannot be seen, and you rely solely on your sense of smell. Finding virtues and faults becomes complicated, which is why this competition is called “Nariz de Oro” (Golden Nose), as you describe each wine with precision, using only your sense of smell.

I wrote “El a, e, i, o, u del vino” (The a, e, i, o, u of Wine”), a book which with I relate deeply. A critically acclaimed book, with more than 22K units sold in three editions.
El Rincón del Sumiller (Sommelier’s Corner)
This TV show was born from the program “De la vid al vino” (From Vine to Wine), a set of TV slots around the world of wine, treating it in an innovative new form.
My show “El Rincón del Sumiller” (Sommelier’s Corner) could be defined as a series of educational documentaries, with extensive content, treated from an inquisitive and simple perspective, that both enriches and entertains the viewer.

28 different episodes covering everything wine, from how to properly uncork a bottle, its pairing, its tasting (colour, smell and taste), wine serving, types of glass, serving temperature and a lot more.
Its resounding success is supported by its broadcast in TVEM (4 seasons), national broadcasting in TVE (3 seasons) and its international broadcast in TVE, worldwide (2 seasons).
